The End Is Here - Sunday 23rd September 2007
And now thats' six down, none to go. The MPH Triathlon Series 2007, in Association with Tri-ChangingGear has come to a close, with a very successful Huntly Standard and Sprint Event.
Across 6 venues and 10 races, we have experienced anumber of highs and lows. A lack of marshalls, injuries and bad weather were washed over with reciord attendances, faster times, younger competitors (good for the future) and fanatstic weather for 2 of the series (Skene and Huntly). Every event has ended in success, with everyone satisfied with the results, the organisation, the course, everything. And long may this continue next series.
Now back to our final race. Huntly is always our crowd puller, as our only Standard it brings people in from far and wide, from Portysoy to Perth, Aberdeen to Ayr, Strathclyde to Stirling. With 80 registred for the Standard event, 70 showing up, and 64 entering the Sprint, with 54 showing up, we had a face field of 124 competitors, which is a great number. The early starts saw that every B&B, hotel, motel and stable in town was booked up.
We had a few minor uts and scrapes as a couple came off their bikes or legs gave way, but nothing serious, which is always good to hear. And now onto the results:
For the Standard:
1st Male: Graeme Stewart, a Senior from Dundee Uni Tri Club, in a time of 02:02:48.
2nd Male: Neil Young, a Senior from Fife AC, in a time of 02:07:34.
3rd Male: David Edwards, a Veteran from Fleetfeet Tri Club, in a time of 02:08:26.
1st Female: Jennifer Eilertsen, a Senior from Dundee Uni Tri Club, in a time of 02:25:28.
2nd Female: Sarah Shaw, an Unattached Super Veteran, in a time of 02:28:42.
3rd Female: Jeannette Stewart, a Senior from Fleetfeet Tri Club, in a time of 02:30:50.
The only Junior in the event was the Unaattached Lisa Leonard, who finished in a time of 02:40:57.
For the Sprint:
1st Male: Peter Anderson, a Junior from Fleetfeet Tri Club, in a time of 01:16:19.
2nd Male: Ian Milne, a Super Veteran from Aberdeen Uni Tri Club, in a time of 01:19:57.
3rd Male: Iain Cruickshank, a Veteran from Keith, in a time of 01:20:55.
1st Female: Val Martin, a Veteran from Ayr Roads, in a time of 01:27:45.
2nd Female: Heidi Fettes, an Unattached Senior, in a time of 01:32:24.
3rd Female: Ann Copeland, a Veteran from Fleetfeet Tri Club, in a time of 01:37:00.
Other Juniors included:
Michael Adams (Unattached) 01:21:40
Hugh Walton (Deeside Thistle) 01:40:28
Hannah McPherson (Tri-ChangingGear) 01:51:46
I wish to thank everyone for attending the race, and to everyone who attened a race throughout the entire series. It would not be able to go ahead without you, and this has been one of our most successful series' to date. We also wish to thank our sponsors, MPH Plant Hire and Tri-ChangingGear, for their support throughout the series. Again, without their input, the series could not ahead.
Hopefully the 2008 series will be just as good as the 2007 series, if not better. Lets try and raise the entrant levels even further and get the MPH Tri Series on the map across Scotland.
Keep a look out on this site for any future plans. I have received a lot of emails asking about a Winter Duathlon series. To clarify: this is currently under discussion. If it is to go ahead, an announcement will be made on this site.
Thanks again, and see you next year (although I may not be there, as Huntly could have been my final triathlon).
Alford Triathlon - Sunday 5th August 2007
That's now four down, two to go in the MPH Triathlon series 2007, with another successful Alford Short and Team Triathlon today.
With 105 entrants turning up to race on the day, even with the surprise turn up of rain hours before it was due, was a great achievement, as the whole series to date has been. With the Scottish Junior Championships also part of the race it made for an interesting day.
I've been comparing this year's results to last years, and everyone seems to have improved. There also seems to be a habit of the same people winning it again. In the Male Senior category, Chris Jessiman held onto his title that he won in 2006. In the Male Veteran category the first 2, Jake Vellacott and Kevin Adam, finished in those positions in 2006 also. Strange occurances, or just a favourite course, who knows. And no bribes have been accepted to allow the results to be altered. (Kevin, you'll need to make it £20 if you want first place!)
The Female Junior Championship gold medal went to Eilidh Hargreaves of Stirling Tri Club, in a time of 43:15, and she was followed by Nicola Lindsey for Silver, with a time of 43:58, and Jenny McDougall, 46:07 her time, in bronze.
The Team event, the only team event of the series and prestegious one as well, with a trophy handed out to the winners, was won by a Tri Changing Gear team for the 2nd year running (again, no bribery used there), however, the hodlers did not retain their title. The Tri Belly Babes stormed to success last year, but finished in a reasonable 6th place this year allowing the TriChanging Gear Elite, later dubbed the Tri Jelly Bears to snatch the title with a time of 39:59. two of the members of the team, swimmer Hannah McPherson and her dad Neil, who ran for the team, had only arrived in the country at 5am on the morning of the race, so did exceptionally well to race the time they did.
A big thanks goes out to all our marshalls. Our loss of the ATC has been felt throughout the series, but again our willing volunteers, this time from Tri Changing Gear, stepped up and did a wonderful job again.
Thanks for making Alford 2007 a successful event yet again, and hopefully we'll see you at either Banff Aprint on the 26th of August or Huntly Standard/Sprint on the 23rd September.
Alford Triathlon - Race Full - Saturday 4th August 2007
I'd just like to announce that Entries for Alford short and Team triathlon tomorrow is now closed, the race has been set, is full and we will be taking no more entries.
If we have not received your entry so far then I'm afraid your entry won't be counted. However, you can still come along and speak to me at Registration when registration is closed, and I can try to fit you in if there are any spaces left.
We understand that the recent postal strikes may have held up your entry, but I'm afraid there is nothing we can do about it now.
We have 118 entries, which is very good, and anticipate about 180 people all together, counting team members. Hopefully thw weather will stay sunny and it'll be a great event.
See you tomorrow, and good luck.
Inverurie Triathlon - Sunday 10th June 2007
Well, thats the first one done with. And now the results are online and everything's sorted, I can relax now.
It's not easy you know, typing 73 times in, 5 times, and then checking to make sure they're correct. My quick calculations make that almost 350 times being entered to work out 73 results. How fun!
I have to say that, despite a bit of drizzle and 2 people coming off their bikes, that Inverurie Sprint 2007 went very successfully. It was clear to spot the distinct lack of ATC marshalls, but our volunteers did very well, coping with any incidents and pointing the competitors in the right direction. Who needs John Courtley and his boys! (Only kidding if you read this Mr C!)
The Overall Female Prize went to Kelda Spratt of RAFTA, in a time of 1:34:35, surpassing last year's record set by Tri-Chaning Gear's Donna Gray, who was 2nd female overall, and first Female Senior. Chantel Clark was first Female Junior, with Kelda first Female Veteran. Unfortunately there were no Female Super Vets or Vintage entries.
The Overall Male Prize went to Robert Foietta of Fleet Feet Triathletes, in a new course record time of 1:20:26, making sure that sponsors Tri-Changing Gear would not claim any of the trophies they had won the last 2 years. Robert was also the first Male senior entry, with Mike Bond of the National fire service Tri Club claiming first Male Veteran, Orkney Triathlon Club's Ewen Taylor winning first Male Super Veteran, and Neil Robertson of Fleet Feet beating off sponsor Bert McIntosh in the Vintage category.
Overall it was a great event and it was very successful, with 77 pre-entries, 73 starters and 71 finishers, making sure that it was the most successful Inverurie Sprint yet, word obviously getting round of the great course that's on offer.
Congratulations to all prize winners, and well done to everyone else who took part. The event wouldn't have gone ahead without you. Thanks also to Inverurie Swimming Centre for providing their pool and staff as Lane Counters and Time Keepers. Another thanks goes to our Sponsors, particularly Tri-Changing Gear who sponsor the Overall Prizes for the Inverurie Sprint.
Hopefully we'll see you on the 8th of July at Skene for the next in the Series.

PS. If the photographer who was at the event happens to read this, could they please contact me using the Website Email Address provided in the Contact section of the site. Thanks.

Schedule Changes - Friday 20th April 2007
Sorry for the lack of communication via the website over the last couple of months, but there has not been much to report.
Some recent news is significant enough to warrant an announcement, and it is to announce a change within this series' schedule.
Due to dropping numbers, the triathlon at Peterhead has been withdrawn from the series and will not feature in the 2007 Series. It was scheduled for Sunday 22nd July. Turriff triathlon, which has been the first of the series for a number of years, has been moved in it's place, and will now take place on Sunday 22nd July rather than Sunday 13th May.
This decision has been taken due to a number of reasons, including time constraints and important school exams. It also means that the first Triathlon of the 2007 Series will take place at Inverurie on Sunday 10th June.
With regards to the entry form, which I have received a number of emails about (again, I apologise for the lack of announcement), they have been sent away for production and will hopefully be available in the near future. Another announcement will be made when an entry form, whether online/downloadable, or in paper format, is available.
Thanks for your patience, and we look forward to seeing you at Inverurie on Sunday 10th June. I am happy to answer any questions or queries you may have. Any emails can be directed to matt@mphtriseries.co.uk, or see the Contact Us section for more contact details.

Welcome To The MPH Triathlon Series Site - Saturday 24th February 2007
Welcome to the MPH Triathlon Series website, which has recently been updated for the 2007 series.
There is a new colour scheme, with the rather dull brown being replaced by a brighter green colour (and if it was not for my intervention then it would have required sunglasses!).
The site will eventually fill up with results and hopefully many pictures from this years events. previously forums were available to post on, but due to poor security mehods which reuslted in many unpleasent and unwanted posts the forums have been taken offline. In the future we hope to invest in new and trusted forum software to take the site further.
The schedule for the 2007 is available and these dates are not likely to change. If a date is changed then as soon as this is confirmed a news message will be posted.
Any questions or queries can be emailed to matt@mphtriseries.co.uk and will be responded to as quickly as possible.
Finally, use and enjoy the site, spread the word and I hope to see you at an MPH Triathlon this series.
Matt, Webmaster and Results co-ordinator.
